LECHLADE ART SOCIETY NEWS
Lechlade Art Society at Oxfordshire Artweeks 2024
Lord Faringdon, our Patron, has kindly allowed the Society to have a week-long Open Studios event at Buscot Park. Buscot Park is in Oxfordshire so this enables the Society to participate in Oxfordshire Artweeks which is a county-wide event throughout May. Ten of our members will be showing work and demonstrating their skills from Saturday 4th to Sunday 12th May inclusive, 2pm to 6pm every day. The Open Studios venue is next to the main House, opposite the theatre and near the outside swimming pool.
Please come along and see us. Park in the main car park (or adjoining field overflow car park on the Bank Holiday weekend) and follow the signs to the venue. The car park and Open Studios venue are both free.
If you are a National Trust member please register as a normal visitor at the ticket office even if you are only coming to the Open Studios event; this enables the Park to receive valuable funding for your visit. You are, of course, free to wander anywhere you wish in Buscot Park, including the House.
If you are not a National Trust member and only want to visit the Open Studios event you can proceed directly from the car park following the signs. If you would like to wander through the gardens and grounds or to visit the House as well then please pay at the ticket office as this is a National Trust property with admission charges.
Either way the excellent cafe and marquee (near the car park) will be open every day (except Tuesday) for afternoon tea and cake etc so don't leave without trying it!

Sad News, Email to Members sent 17 March
It is with profound regret that I write to you today to say that two members of LAS have recently passed away.
Yvonne Ayoub, although not a member for so very long, was beginning to get involved with the Society. She will be missed, especially by those members who knew her well.
Joan Tyrell was an active member of the Society, adding to her long list of other hobbies and interests. She regularly attended the Thursday Group meetings, workshops and even attended the February demonstration with her daughter and grandson. As her death was sudden, we do not have any further details.
We shall be sending a card of condolence to both families on behalf of us all at the Lechlade Art Society.

Affordable Art - A Pop-up Art Sale in the Pavilion
A few of our members held a pop-up art sale in the Pavilion on Saturday 23rd
December from 10.00am to 2.30pm. After a rather slow start, it got much busier later. See the photographs here
Thursday Group Meeting Dec 2023
The traditional "bring and share" Christmas lunch was held on Thursday 21st December in the Pavilion. See the photographs here: Thursday Group Dec 23
Thursday Group not put off meeting just because the Pavilion was being used as a polling station!
We could not use the Pavilion for our meeting on Thursday 14th December because of an election. But our loyal group relocated to a smaller room in the Memorial Hall building instead and it was business as usual. See the photographs here

Announcement - Ian Harrop
The Society has been informed of the recent death of Ian Harrop. Ian died from leukaemia (diagnosed earlier this year) at Cheltenham Hospital around 19th October. Thursday Group members will remember him as a "regular" up until 2021.
The funeral will be private. Please respect the privacy of the family.
